SILP (Supported Ionic Liquid Phase) technology has been established in the last five years as an innovative method to immobilize homogeneous transition metal complexes in catalysis. In recent years the SILP technology has seen applications in hydroformylation, hydrogenation, carbonylation and fine chemical synthesis.

Recently, gas purification and separation applications have been successfully performed with these novel materials. The combination of ionic liquids, organic or inorganic supports and metal complexes allows the synthesis of tailor made SILP systems for a variety of today's processes as well as future problems.
